Nvidia Shield Hardware Deinterlacing pixelation
#1
Trying to watch 1080i content streamed from my set top box & when using hardware deinterlacing I get pixelation of the image.

I have tried turning off mediacodec & using software deinterlacing but it either makes the picture quality very poor or jerky.

Is this a known problem or do I have my settings wrong?

Try updating to the latest v18 nightly and see if your issue is still present.  You can use the Android Installer add-on to update.

Ok so just updated to 18.0 ALPHA & it is still the same. Only occurs when MediaCodec is switch on, when using MediaCodec Surface I get smooth video with the pixelation. With MediaCodec I get very juddery video & pixelation also.

Turning both off solves the pixelation problem but the deinterlacing methods degrade the picture quality a lot.

So is there anything else I can do to resolve this issue or is that it? If so I will have to return the Shield as this is all I purchased it for, I thought because it was a powerful box it would have no issue with this.
