Hi;
On a ubuntu based 16.04 system w 4.14.2 kernel and 17.6 install i'm having issues getting kodi addons to install I  found beautifulsoup and got some to work but take long time/not downloading.
8 core ,12 gig ram 250u/d internet unlimited (telus is provider) I'm behind a pfsense firewall and before reinstall  I didn't have issues.
when downloaded from website they work?
any ideal that would be great

 Hi; all the Kodi repo based ones no others. 
I am behind pfsense and snort,squidguard but was not an issue before.

So - then. Disable them and retry. Kodi did not change a single thing in howto downloading addons.

Also, even the  Kodi addons from zip file on external hd have an issue and don't get needed extra/install.
I'm on a fiber connection 150/150 Mbps u/d unlimited from Telus canada.

went back to kernel 4.10,12gig ram,120gig ssd,8 core amd cpu (8320).

I would if that was the issue it just hangs at downloading from the internet and zip file.

Come on: You have a 3 layer firewall and your downloads hang and you assume that this is NOT the issue? Dependencies are only installed when you install via our repository ... not when installed from zip

Post your Debug Log - but I am quite sure what we will see there.

you may be right there but I was able to get em with all this setup before .

see 500 errors . did ip's change or maybe it's cause of updated pfsense is there a way to get ips out of the log or the like for kodi?

I had a similar problem on Linux Mint 18.2, it turns out that's not related to kodi but to "python-cryptography" version installed with Ubuntu.

You can check if that's the case by running kodi from a command line terminal. There'll be a lot of errors related to python on terminal window that obviously don't show up on kodi logs.

I fixed it by updating the related python packages:

yes; that did it  no issues no change to firewall . Please mark all my threads as closed maybe add this as a mint/ubuntu 16.04 issue. can't wait to next release 18 lts even though this is supported till 2021 I think . SuperGamer is quick and love file transfers with it (omg do I ) . Kodi if you need a pest to bug content providers I'd be more then happy I want a telus iptv plugin gosh darn it telus.
