Kodi DSPlayer should probably be included, even though it isn’t an official Kodi. It does everything mentioned at the highest quality due to the use of madVR.

Confirming auto colorspace switching works for SDR <<-->>HDR, Without a user having to go back into Windows settings all the time ?

Please also detail a list of specific hardware (if possible) and which Windows OS is needed for 4K Windows HDR video playback so I and other users do not need to go on an easter egg hunt ?    

 Auto color space conversions are handled by the Calibration feature in madVR. Any color space can be matched to what your display is calibrated to. HDR is turned on and off as needed, as long as you are using the right GPU. So this isn't the cheapest option.

For Kodi DSPlayer, you need:

• Windows 7+
  
• Kodi DSPlayer build (Jarvis or Krypton)
  
• Nvidia or AMD GPU with 4GB+ of VRAM and HEVC hardware decoding
  
• Recent drivers
