I have Kodi running on two Amazon Fire TV gen 2 boxes. The setup worked great until we wanted to watch live TV. I configured NextPVR as the backend the problem is a few channels around here use 1080I. From what I'm seeing the Firetv gen 2 is horrible at deinterlacing content. The 1080I channels look horrible artifacts along with smearing now progressive content works fine. Th Nvidia Shields were on sale over the past weekend so I grabbed on it does not have that problem 1080I looks great on the shield. The problem is the Shields are not cheap especially when you are doing a multi tv setup. From what I read the Shield is the standard for not only streaming but for handling Kodi. So if anyone knows how to deinterlace on a gen 2 firetv ot an android tv box that's cheaper than the Shied that can handle deinterlacing please let me know.
