Memphiz has been amazing, working w/ MrMC to backport their changes to Kodi, but as he said:
If people are developers and interested in helping, now's a great time to step up! I've started an irc channel with the main MrMC dev, davilla on freenode, #kodi-tvos. Feel free to join if you're interested in doing development work, or if you want to lurk, but please don't ask configuration questions.
The current working branch for contributions is here

However to get this properly supported it needs to be be slowly made upstream towards the official xbmc code
