I'd like to have the ability to create further node lists. 
For example
- 4K movies (there is a resolution flag but it doesn't really work)
- Movies with DTS-HD/TrueHD sound

I seem to remember a recent pull request to add 2160p support to smart playlists, but maybe I imagined it

You can use the GUI node Add-on to pull the available data, maybe that works?

Personally I use a path filter. All my movies have the resolution and audio format in the folder name so its easy to filter by that.
