Kodi not finding Windows 10 SMB
#1
I am running on the latest update of Windows 10 and Kodi 17.8

I'm trying to share my movies over the local network with Windows 10 SMB but they never show up in the Kodi SMB section.

In programs and features SMB is enabled, the PC shows up on other Windows PCs on the network.

If your Windows machine has had the creator update, then you'll probably be using SMB2 or 3, which doesn't have the browse capability. If you enter the IP address and folder you're sharing manually then you should be able to find it from kodi.

Microsoft has also disabled anonymous sharing, so you'll need to enter your Windows username and password to access the share. If necessary you may need to create a local dummy user account on the Windows machine to achieve this.
