This is not an actual issue and more out of curiosity: I think there was a vague announcement that with kodi 18 there will be autoextracted thumbnails for recordings.

Installing the latest kodi 18 nightly which already looks pretty mature and "final" to me, I cannot see that this has become available yet. Has this feature been completely abandonned or will it be introduced with later releases or even in kodi 18 final?

We are waiting for the PVR addon to be migrated to the new version. This will allow to create multiple instances. The dev in charge is busy with real life atm.

I'd expect this to be a major change. Appreciating the dev is busy in real life is this still planned for kodi 18?

I don't have any news on release planning, hence I can't answer this.

You have to read the code in order to get more info. Some addons lke inputstream are already migrated. This allows Kodi to create more of a single instance of an addon with the same type. That is required for the feature you requested.
