Solved TheTVDB - DVD order scraping doesn't work
#1
Hello,

I did a lot of research for this but never found a working solution: I have a TV Show with the episodes named in DVD order. I tried to scrape them with the DVD Order option as indicated here : https://www.reddit.com/r/kodi/comments/5...ples_with/But it didn't work. Even after completely removing the folder from the library and reupdating the library, the episodes are still displayed in Aired order. At first I thought the decimal naming with .0 could have been the issue but it didn't change anything. The series I'm having problem with is Kaamelott, a French TV Show. For example, one of the episodes files is named "Kaamelott - 4x046.0 - La Relève.mkv", 46 being its number in DVD order on TheTVDB.com : https://www.thetvdb.com/index.php?lid=7&...rder=aired And even after removing the series from the library, changing the scrapers parameters for the whole series to DVD order and updating the library, this file is still displayed as "46 - Les Tacticiens - 2ème partie" in Season 4.Could anyone help me with that or will I have to edit the .nfo of this kind of episodes ?
Thanks

Hello lufortytwo,

In future, instead of reading random websites for help you should consult the official Kodi wiki. Here is the link to the guide that will help create the video library... https://kodi.wiki/view/HOW-TO:Create_Video_Library

I have looked at your show on TVDB and checked both the DVD and Aired order listings, and I see nothing unusual with them. This means the problem is at your end and is probably just a simple naming problem.

Is the folder, that contains the episodes, named Kaamelott?

Are your episodes named like this example... Kaamelott S01E01?

Which language are you trying to scrape- French or English or other? And are these languages set in your scraper settings as shown in the below image? (probably not the issue, but worth checking)

Have you set DVD Order in the scraper settings as shown in the below image?

Might be worth you taking a screenshot of your folder listing showing the episode files as well as the tv show folder and posting here.

Hello Karellen,

Thank you for your answer and sorry for the random link, I also read the wiki but the reddit page had a bit more precise advices.

I used another library with only one episode to do tests and answer your question :

Concerning the naming, the file is "D:\Séries\Kaamelott\Livre IV\Kaamelott - 4x046 - La Relève.mkv" where "Séries" is the main source folder, "Livre IV" is the official name of the season. but I also tried with "Season 4". I also tried other names for the file like "Kaamelott - 4x046.0 - La Relève.mkv" or "Kaamelott - S04E46 - La Relève.mkv" but none of that made any difference. Here are the screenshots of the "files" folder, reflecting the disposition in Windows Explorer :

I set the DVD order in the scraper parameters and I tried scraping in english, in french, and in english with french as a fallback language, but always the same result in the library:

Also I don't have this problem with US TV shows where the DVD order si different from the aired order, so I'm not sure the problem is at my end.

Could you maybe try it with a fake file (like another mkv file you would rename "Kaamelott - 4x046 - La Relève.mkv") that you would place in a "Kaamelott\Livre IV" folder to see if it does the same with you, please ?

Thank you very much

Yes I tested with some fake files and I obtained the same results as you.

Upon further investigation, the problem lies with whoever entered the data at TVDB as it is incorrect.

If you have an account at TVDB, you can click on the episode to see the full data entry details here... https://www.thetvdb.com/?tab=episode&ser...8229&lid=7

You will notice that the DVD Season data is missing. Because the DVD Order data is incomplete, the scraper is falling back to the Aired Order. It seems the entire season has been incorrectly entered.

Unfortunately, the series is locked, so you cannot update the data. It has to be fixed by the Moderators at the site. If you post in their forum they will get around to fixing it. (hopefully)

Okay well thank you very much for confirming the error. I posted on thetvdb forum and hope the mods will response positively. If not, I will manage the problem by editing the nfo files, but it would be great if I didn't have to Big Grin

Thanks again !

Ok, great. They will eventually get around to it, but in their own time so don't expect immediate results Wink

Whoever entered that series really did a bad job. There is almost no data there. Just a title and part episode number. Of course, the mods there won't fix that, nor will they unlock it to allow others to fix. They will just bulk add the Season number. So you might have to go the nfo route, or use Chorus2, to add additional details if you want to complete the entry in your local library.

@lufortytwo

I noticed that the Moderators at TVDB have added the missing "Season" data.

Can you confirm it scrapes correctly now?

---Edit---
I still had your files on my test machine, so I ran the scrape again. It scraped S04E46- La Releve so it seems to be working now.

Yes, I tested it and it scrapes correctly, thank you very much for your advice ! I didn't see immediately that they did it since they didn't answer my post on the forum but it seems like they did what was necessary Smile
