Solved TV Shows page is not populating
#1
I'm a new Kodi user. For some reason my TV Shows page is not populating. I have no problems on my Movies page, it populates fine.
BTW I'm using Kodi 17.6 on a Windows 10 Intel NUC.
All my video files are on my QNAP NAS, they are .mkv files.
I have only 3 TV Show files, named properly, and I can access & play them by going to Videos then clicking on the Media Source labeled "TV Shows". But why is my TV Shows page empty?
My media source is labeled properly:
-This directory contains TV Shows
-Information Provider is TVDB
-I'm not using DVD Orider or Absolute Ordering

Also, I've tried removing the network source and re-selecting it; as well as rescanning and updating the library. (I can see the library updating)

Thanks in advance!
Kodi 18.0 on Windows 10 Home, version 1803. Intel NUC7 i5 BNKP, 16GB RAM.

To receive meaningful assistance you will need to provide a full debug log.

The instructions are here... debug log (wiki)

If you are using the Basic Method, then ensure the following is applied...
1.Enable debugging in Settings>System Settings>Logging,
2.Restart Kodi
3.Replicate the problem.

If you are using the Advanced Method ensure you have correctly created and applied the advancedsettings.xml file.

In both instances, you should see the word DEBUG throughout the log.

Note: Full logs only. No partial or redacted logs
Do NOT post your logs directly into the forum. Always use a paste site like pastebin.com. Post the link to your pasted log in the forum

Please also, perhaps even before a log, give an example of a file name in your tv files, with the full path.

Hi Nick,

I used the easy debug setting, and I'm pretty sure I did it correctly. I got this URL http://ix.io/SKT

As for my filename, one is Homeland S07E01. I'm accessing it from a mapped drive, so Z:\Torrents Complete\TV Shows\

Hello citysoundman

You have your TV Show folders set up incorrectly. Please read the wiki guide... https://kodi.wiki/view/Naming_video_files/TV_shows

Basically, each TV Show needs its own folder. You can't have all your episodes from all your tv shows in one folder.

Before you ask, there is no way around that.

Well Homeland S07E01 is not going to work, as it doesn't have an extension so Kodi will not recognise it as a video file.

When I ask for a full name and path, I mean it, like:
 Z:\Torrents Complete\TV Shows\path\whatever.mkv

THAT is a full path and filename.

Thanks very much Karellen, after reading the wiki page you pointed me to I was able to get it working. I knew that the file names needed to be set correctly, but I didn't know that each file needed to be in a single TV Show folder. Going forward I'll be sure to read the wiki thoroughly. Cheers!
