Win Functional USB Remotes for Windows
#1
It appears that a lot of remotes out there work fine for prebuilt boxes but simply do not work for windows. Lets try to consolidate what remotes work and do not work for windows so it will be easier for everyone to find remotes that work without going bankrupt.

Working Remotes
Minix Neo A2 Lite -Initial Report, Secondary claim that it does not have random re plug problem and the air-mouse will stay off when switched off.

Non Working Remotes
Rii MX3 - Randomly loses connection and requires user to replug the dongle to get it working.
Rii K25 - Air mouse part can not be permanently disabled, it re-enables every time the remote wakes up from sleep or when you restart your computer.
Favormates Mini Wireless Keyboard With Air Remote Mouse Combo - Randomly loses connection and requires user to replug the dongle to get it working. (This is same as MX3 with a trackpad added, unfortunately it otherwise works just like the MX3 in that it does not work...)

Please post your experiences with various remotes so we can all hopefully find out what really works.

Now this is a post I can get, behind having two of those remotes in the list with exactly those problems Wink

Not a good run for Windows by the looks. I have one of these on the way *fingers crossed* we can add it to the working list!

These also look like they had potential

Looks interesting, I love that it actually has all the buttons like alt+ctrl+shift which is great when you need to execute a stock windows hotkey command on the fly.

Looks to be missing ~ ` ^ < > | \ { } [ ] though but it is almost impossible to find one that has all the buttons of a full size keyboard.

Can not wait to see how it works for you!

yeh just hoping it works reliably anything else is a bonus Big Grin

Maybe we should just use this thread to raise funds to a remote designed and built haha!

Personally i don't use Windows for Kodi anymore for daily use, but when i did (and sometimes while testing something on a Windows box) i always used the Minix Neo A2 Lite.
That one works out of the box without any adjustments:  https://www.coolblue.nl/product/780823/m...gLosfD_BwE

Haven't tried those but they look ok. Not backlit tho hey? Ended up lashing out and going down the Logitech Harmony path.

Thanks for the post, to verify have you ever had any of the following issues with the remote:

Remote required replug to work
Remote air mouse would turn back on after being turned off (after reboot etc).

No, never had to to any of that.

I did have some other models that did (MX3 comes to mind) and they ended up in the bin.

I have updated the first post to reflect that the Minix Neo A2 Lite is considered a wokring remote. At this time it is the only remote that can be recommended for Windows use.

I think it's rather bulky for my taste, but i just gave one away as a present to someone that is not very tech-savy. Needed to be Plug&Play.
Haven't heard back from him (aside from a 'thank you') which is good for me Wink

I have bern using Kodi on Windows for many years, I tried many many remotes of all kind and after many tests for me the best is a simple remote like can be the Philipcs RC197 but some years ago I kept the receiver and changed to a OneForAll remote where I have the Windows remote + AVR + SAT + TV (tv no more since I changed to LG Oled and use a lot its mouse system to use Netflix, Amazon Prime and its media player while mine isn't 4k hdr yet). The One For All remote im using is the URC7140 with the Philips RC197 remote receiver.

For keyboard/mouse needs I have a logitech k400 under the center table, but doesn't use it very often.

The DoCooler H1 Fly Air Remote. Here is the aliexpress link : https://goo.gl/r4a1s8

It's great, keyboard that becomes a touchpad, air mouse that you can disable, very accurate, nice touch press, Really recommend it over the minix. Also, it has IR Learning, so I can ditch the never working CEC and use one remote instead to turn the tv on.

thanks for your tipp.

I ordered one, but now I have a problem.
If I turn the "airmouse"- function off, after 2-3 minutes it turns automatically on.

So after watching one episode of xyz the airmouse function is on and so the OK-btn is a "leftclick" instead of "enter".
Also other buttons like "back" has in airmouse mode another function, maybe rightclick.

But this makes this remote unusable. You have to disable the "airmouse"-function each time.

Or do you have a solution for this feature/bug ?

I DO NOT have this problem with the DoCooler H1

Please notice that if you turn the remote on the keyboard face, it will default to mouse mode.

but if i set the remote on it's proper face during the hole movie, then i do not have the airmouse function.

 Big thanks for your reply.

Maybe there are new versions of this remote on the market.
Or do you use a secret function to disable the airmouse even after stand by of the remote?
Press some button for longer or something like that?

If I put the remote on the table for 4-5 mins (keyboard is down side), the OK button and the BACK button are not working. If I press then the Mouse button , then they are working again.

But, this remote feels so good in hand and has so many features (5 IR-btns, keyboard, LED,  ...) so it is still the best I tested, and I tested many of them ^^
So thanks for your tip.
