Solved kodi 18 Leia on Ubuntu 18.04
#1
Is it possible to (apt) install kodi v18 on Ubuntu 18.04 from nightly ppa?
Looks like there're packages for bionic but I couldn't get any success.

Thank you very much for your quick response.
I just followed the instruction on wiki, and tried to clean install kodi from "ppa:team-xbmc/xbmc-nightly" on Ubuntu 18.04

"sudo apt-get install kodi" returned this error.

Thats a packaging problem. I just added bionic to the ppa builds, but didn't actually try to install it yet.
I'll try to fix it tomorrow

I updated the package, but still didn't get around to setup a 18.04 test system. Mind trying if it works now?

There seems to be another problem with the nightly build: Kodi requires libnfs8 | libnfs4 | libnfs1 while ubuntu provides libnfs11. Is it possible to include libnfs11 in the list?

they must have bumped it. Will be fixed with next nightly

Thanks, now it works Smile BTW: The purpose for switching to 18.04 was that lirc input was not working anymore on Ubuntu 16.04. I could not find out why but expect that it was due to the lirc changes in Kodi.

Was able to resolve this by just uninstalling and reinstalling.

kodi-data is the broken packaged ubuntu package - entirely remove kodi-data and then install our version from the ppa. Perhaps we should add a conflicts or replaces.
First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.
