new user - first remark following the use of the software
#1
Hello,
being a new user of the software, I previously used MediaElch which is out of date

I was a little familiar with some of the features of the previous software I can not find here

I saw only 2 for now
after, I do not know if it will be added or deliberately put aside

1 - the classic synchronization with the Kodi database
Synchronize / delete data bse

here is an FR capture of the MediaElch software that allows to tell him that each movie is already in his folder (and therefore that the software does not move them elsewhere in the tree)

2 - the renamer: this one is good but boring at the same time
because for my case, I like to create "myself" my saga in the tree of my SIN

for example in my tree:
...
// video / film / MARVEL CINEMATIC UNIVERSE / PHASE 1 / THOR 1
...
// video / film / MARVEL CINEMATIC UNIVERSE / PHASE 2 / THOR 2
...
// video / film / MARVEL CINEMATIC UNIVERSE / PHASE 3 / THOR 3

after renaming with the renamer, I get
// video / film / Thor1
// video / film / Thor2
// video / film / Thor3

after, you would tell me that these are close in the tree
but me, it annoys me that he moves my files while he could just "just" rename the folder that contains the movie

thank you for listening to my remarks

Well, the default and preferred way, is, to have each movie in a seperate folder, one level deep from your datasource.

And there are only 2 options:
to rename the folder (complete tree)
or to not even touch the folder with the renamer.
Just rename the movie folder, and keep the rest of path as is, is currently not supported.

But you can use the MovieSet information and integrate that in the movie folder rename pattern like "$M/$T ($Y)" or similar.
Which might result is similar output from above. (assuming the MarvelCinematicUniverse would be your movieset)
But i have no clue what Phase 1/2/3 is, and where it comes from, so this cannot be automated....

Edit:
Kodi database sync is not available.
Currently done only via NFO files.
As donator, you could use trakt.tv.
For v3 we want at least to trigger some remote operation, to force Kodi a reload of one or more movies...
(But we will never ever touch the database directly)

concerning phase 1 2 and 3
this corresponds to the MCU
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marvel_Cin...ture_films

for the renamer, it is annoying but I would do without it until it takes into account
if you want to try the renamer (which does not touch the SAGA database), you can use MediaElch

thank you for the answer
(I bring a supplementary info to my message above)

phase 1 2 and 3 are saga files that I created manually (myself)

in the context of the MCU, here is my tree

IMHO being a user myself, renaming like you want is not efficient. On the website you posted is a sortorder - release date. Renaming your way gives:

...
Iron Man 1
Iron Man 2
The Incrediblue Hulk

But it is:

...
Iron Man 1
The Incredible Hulk
Iron Man 2

Two ideas:

Use tags for the phases and use the release date as sortorder. Having that said, I don't know if TMM offers both as rename options, but this is the way I would go:

MCU - 2001.xx.xx - Phase 1 - Iron Man 1
MCU - 2002.xx.xx - Phase 1 - The Incredible Hulk
MCU - 2003.xx.xx - Phase 1 - Iron Man 2
.... You get the idea, possibly swap date and tag to fit your needs.

Just my 0.02.

in fact, I indicated the MCU for convenience of explanation
(It's the only one who has a second sub-file)

for the other "SAGA" it poses the same problem

example:
//VIDEO/GHIBLI/MONONOKE/***.MKV
so on for the other studio films

risk of giving if I launch the renamer
//VIDEO/MONONOKE/***.MKV
// VIDEO / GHIBLI / MONONOKE / {empty}

by curiosté, have you tried the rename of MediaElch?
this one only renames the folder, without moving the movie in the tree
thing that I wish
(you just have to tell him that each film is in his own file by a tick)
#7
No, I didn't use MediaElch and I don't want to. If it's better, stick with it.

The combination TMM/Kodi/Plex is perfect for me. I don't care about the folder names, I care about the data _within_ the folders instead. Kodi/Plex make a perfect experience from the data _within_ the folders. I don't see the foldernames running these players.

What mediaplayer do you use?
#8
MediaElch is not better or worse
it is simply not maintained anymore

the only wish of my loan is to rename the files and folders easily
(without the renamer chooses to "move" the folder in the tree)

sorry, I'm annoying because I like the proper names on my records
and I took advantage that the application allows me to name the name of my films

I am using Kodi
but I move to occassion in the tree with the windows explorer
and it is in this case that I wish to have names of the files "clean"
#9
you can only leave the folder renaming pattern empty - then we won't touch it...

Good evening,
would it possibly be possible to add the following "function"
(or at least for the software to understand it like that)

the %
like that, the software would understand that you should not move the folder in the tree with this symbol if there is a bit of tree before

example
% / ****
****. MKV

would be interpreted as
// VIDEO / MCU / PHASE ONE / THOR 1 / THOR.mkv

I doubt that this is not necessarily possible but I would have try
#11
Hello,
I have another question about accented caratères
because there are many in the French language

I noticed that we could remove the characters
but out of curiosity, would it be possible to have access to this list to possibly be able to add

also, would it be possible to have the opportunity to remove the symbols as
,; ! ?
and the " '
because FR titles can break in their title

thank you

edit :
also, would it be possible to add in the columns,
the one for the path and for the file name

in order to be able to sort by access path and to be able to see the file names in one block (without having to click on each card one by one)

I've found this thread really useful as I want to do the same as the OP for various good reasons. I get that it is possible to organise your movies within TMM and Kodi so that the folder structure doesn't matter. However I want to be able to apply genres globally to subfolders so that I can use them to display those movies separately, and that won't work if TMM moves the folders around. If you want Kodi to display things your way, I've found genres and tags about the only useful methods.

So the advice above is simply not to use that great functionality of TMM to rename and keep everything neat, just because it can't help itself and flattens the file structure. Seems like an easy option to add to me, and for the exact same example of wanting to keep the MCU movies organised amongst others, it would be really handy.

My workaround is to move the MCU movies out of "Movies" entirely (to use the standard example) and have a completely separate data source for them. I actually use "Movies/Main" and "Movies/MCU" as data sources so Kodi only needs to know about "Movies" but to TMM they are different sources. This would get tiresome if there dozens of such examples, but really there only a few I want to keep separate. For the others they can be flattened and I'll embrace the standard sets functionality.

I just posted this in case anyone else (and I'm sure there are a decent number) found this to be a feature they would have embraced.

just try with the ${parent} pattern which has been introduced a while ago

You should add it to the documentation the program sends you to. I made a point of checking all of that before posting.

(https://gitlab.com/tinyMediaManager/tiny...gs#renamer)

I'd consider adding a note saying that without the parameter the whole library will be flattened. Otherwise you tend o come here looking for info after it's too late.

Although I have to admit I love the filter button for bulk editing, and you can filter by data sources.
