I would like to thank Mario_ILI  & alex-kov for their invaluable work in helping us solve this problem with Kodi.

A few days ago some files started to play with no sound, some even with plain old 2.0 sound codecs, due I think to X-Org updating to 10.14.7.R35. - bad Asustor - even though auto update is disabled.
Using the instructions and downloads further up this thread I managed to resolve this after updating ADM to 3.2.2.RM92 earlier today.

Just in case somebody finds this and doesn't fully understand alex-kov's instructions above, you have to enable the hidden file option within WinSCP (not somewhere in your NAS). It took me a minute to appreciate that.

Once I restarted the NAS, as alex-kov suggests, it all worked out perfectly.
Now I know what to look for and have Mario_ILI's files, it shouldn't be a problem again. Fingers crossed.

Thanks Mario!
I had problem with all audio mp3 files after "great" update from Asustor. Kodi did not play it without unchecking all AC3 codecs in system settings.  After patching AC3, It's O.K.
My Kodi is now fully functional with AC3 on ADM 3.2.2.RM92 version (AS4002T).

These fine instructions work on my AS6204T. Thank you very much to KODI community to provide with a solution for my brandnew asustor. I also experience the same limitation as described above (only 2.0, no 5.1) detected by the amplifier from the spdif despite the player detecting the 5.1 AC3 and 5.1 DTS audiotracks in the MKV. Any thoughts on this?

Hi.

It does not work on my NAS. Confused Angry

NAS Model: AS5104T
Admin: 3.2.4.RNN1

I downloaded files from the dropbox and uploaded to server.
I set the root account as the owner and the 0777 for the folder recursively: /volume1/.@plugins/AppCentral/
In AppCentral upload file: 0010_999_1512560310_kodi_17.6.0.R1_x86-64.apk

NAS Admin return error:
Czech: Nelze nahrát. Formát souboru je neplatný pro ADM 2.0. (Ref. 5041)
Eng: Cannot upload. File format is invalid for ADM 2.0. (Ref. 5041)

What is wrong?

Hi,

This great post help me to install Kodi 17.6 to my Asustor AS6404T! Full HD 1080p works flawlessly.
But however, when trying to watch 4K/25 troubles starts. It seems picture is choppy/freezes?
How to fix this? With specs. my asustor should be capable to play 4K/60p(HDMI 2.0)

Markku

It seems that the problem is 4k X264 content works fine but X265 not on Asustor AS6404T!?

Just figuring out that the problem is x.265(HEVC) 10-bit, 8-bits works fine.

So it worked great but the only option when copying the folder using WinSCP was to OVERWRITE. I'm not sure I understand why there was no MERGE option. Since we aren't allowed to look in the .@plugins folder (for our safety, of course) there's no way to tell if there was a merge or an overwrite.  I was afraid to OVERWRITE volume1 so I overwrote the .@plugins folder instead.  Anyway, I have volume again.

To start i would sincerely like to thank both Mario_ILI  & alex-kov, they made life a lot more pleasant again.

unfortunately, just like real life, Digital life isn't perfect yet.
I found that sound doesn't always work the first time, sometime i have to restart the video again ( and again) to get sound to work.
Once it works it will keep working till the start of the next video.

am i the only one with this problem?

kind regards..
