Pi3 not recognozing same USB port on reboot
#1
Hi,

Every time I unplug my USB external HDD and plug it back in again the Pi3 allocates it to another USB port. This is annoying because KODI has already scraped and set up everything for USB1 then it has to do the same again next time I plug it in and gets allocated USB2, 3 or 4. I end up with duplicates of all my movies and TV shows. After researching on the internet, some websites suggested locking the I.D. information from the HDD to a USB port but I have no idea how to do this? Any suggestions?

All help appreciated!

You may want to add a disk/partition label to your USB hdd. Label-less drives can get a random device/number, although I never heard about a random USB port being assigned to an external device. What sort of device names are you getting, and which OS is running on your Rpi-3 ?
