Tested also the lastest nightly (KodiSetup-20180806-08fa24aa-master-x64.exe), but even if a little better, the videos is always choppy especially in 4k...
Also for me keep the osd constantly active on screen, seems that it solves at least the worst of the problem but unthinkable this solution on plasma tv...
Also for me its not fixed. It stutters here and there and also live TV has some serious issues.
While in software decoding all is smooth.

@afedchin is there anything we can do to help? new logs etc.?

PS.: Just a stupid question from a kodi source code aware noob :-) LAVFilters based on FFMPEG which has implemented DXVA2.
Also Kodi is based on FFMPEG, is it possible to grab the DXVA2 kodi from LAV Filters?
Because they are stable.

Using KodiSetup-20180626-0910789a-master-x64 the file plays properly when Use fullscreen window option is enabled. With it disabled there is stuttering and playback is not smooth. Debug logging level needs to be set to 1 to hide the on-screen debug log info or you can't repro it
This issue still exists in KodiSetup-20180909-9c55328e-master-x64

Makes sense as currently no one is working on that issue. Magic solution would have been nice, though.
First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.

 Thanks for the update.
Is that planned for final v18 release?
In my opinion its a showstopper issue  Blush

Since beta3 dxva + deinterlace is stable on my two windows 10 x64 1803 clients with nvidia 1030.

thx a lot for the fixes!

Seeing as Popy reported this fixed, I've just backed up my LibreElec NUCs and put Win10 back on them to try this - all my test cases are now playing back at 24Hz with h/w acceleration on without dropping or skipping any frames!  Fantastic work!

What was the issue with the hardware acceleration that was causing the bad playback then?

Nice to hear that it is also working on your side.

I think that revert was the last key: https://github.com/xbmc/xbmc/pull/14472
But there was a massive rework of dxva before from afedchin first which stabalized things a bit.
There was also some general video commits (not just windows) which where related to video clock (if i remember correctly).

While it's true that things have improved a lot, I still find that motion in my side (windows 10-64b - nvidia 960) is better when I select Software as render method and leave unchecked DVXA2 hardware acceleration...
I found an excellent testing scene in the movie 10 Cloverfield Lane, around minute 21; it's a long scene in which the camera slowly spin around itself showing a large room; with Software/noDVXA2 the motion is perfect, with DVXA2 there are a couple small hiccups...

Correct and i can confirm that. Beside with the Smooth Motion PR 14278 DXVA2 was ok. After PR 14472 not for me with nvidia 1050Ti.

No. Our only DXVA Windows dev is busy with real life. Now is the time to become a hero, getting hands dirty and fixing that stuff by contributing.

This bug is also present in RC1. Refresh rate 23Hz(23.976) + DXVA = choppy playback

Also here when I'll turn smooth motion off on my 65PUS8102. Kodi can't be in RC state with such an show stopper bug.
Please don't get me wrong, I am no dxva dev, just my opinion.

Why is this marked as "solved"? DXVA still broken in RC2 on windows. Chooppy playback with 23.976Hz.
