Alerting "no EPG in WMC"
#1
So every now and then WMC stops getting EPG.  Once I realize the EPG is dead, I can go into WMC and manually download EPG and then it updates again until the next time it stops.

Is there any way PVR WMC could detect that WMC is no longer updating EPG and notify Kodi?

It would be easy for pvr.wmc to detect that there no shows in the guide, but I think by then its probably too late.  Since swmc is always keeping up with the whole guide, I think it could more easily flag when it detects that there there are no shows in the guide, say past one week out.  It could then send a message to the clients to post a warning.  Is that along the lines of what you are thinking of?

Yes.  When Kodi starts, it puts up a progress dialog for "loading guide from database", and then "loading guide from client".  When pvr.wmc updates the guide data it would be nice to notify that "guide data not available for all dates".  Otherwise what happens is the future dates don't get populated, and recurring timers don't get set.  But you don't realize it unless you happen to look at your timers or scroll forward in the guide window.   So eventually you go to tv channels and see there's no data for today.

Having a notification would cue the user to check in WMC to see if there is a guide problem.  This never was a problem BITD but now that MS is trying to strangle off WMC I expect more of these "hiccups".

If you haven't yet, check out epg123, it should solve this problem.

I know schedules direct is probably the true solution, just cheap on my part I guess.
