v17 x11vnc not showing kodi window
#1
Hi.
I'm trying to access Kodi via remote VNC connection. I've done several searches but all the stuff I found is rather old, and not applicable anymore.
I've installed latest Raspbian on a RPi3, then installed Kodi 17.6 via repository. Kodi works great, but I'd like to be able to control it remotely for some situations.

I tried using x11vnc on display :0 but it just shows the desktop and not Kodi application. Is there any up to date guide on how to control Kodi via x11vnc?

thanks

Kodi on rpbi doesn't use X11, so normal vnc won't work. There are several options to remote control it though: android/iOS remote control apps, the web interface, json rpc, eventclient..

I'm using Kore and web interface, but they don't expose all the settings present on the desktop application. i.e. I cannot find how to add a new path for Movies...

RealVNC with experimental capture mode works. It is already installed on Raspbian, you just need to enable the "experimental direct capture mode":
