QNAP Kodi DTS-HD Samsung Onkyo AVR
#1
Hello I have a QNAP 453A which has two HDMI ports.

One is plugged into a Bluestrem HMXL88 matrix.

This is then routed as HDBT to my living room which goes into an Onkyo HT-R693 AVR.

This then goes into to a 6 series ES Samsung TV.

The Samsung and AvR are connected by CEC.

.

The QNAP HD station has a compiled Kodi 17.3 Krypton app. In Audio expert, passthrough is selected and says:

HDA Intel PCH, Sam Samsung on HDMI

I have DD AC3 capable selected and DTS selected.
So this doesn’t play TrueHD, it makes it DD 5.1 which works well (my receiver shows me the input and output).

If I change the output to
HDA Intel PCH, HDMI (this I think is the second HDMI port on the QNAP).
I get the following options in passthrough.
DD AC3
DD plus E-AC3
DTS
TrueHD
DTS-HD

My question is can someone help me get these settings on the HDMI port which goes through the Onkyo and to the Samsung tv?

Things I’ve considered:
(1) considered using a HDMI splitter to take the optical from it and feed it into the receiver. But this seems a shame for the HDMI.

(2) looked in Onkyo settings to overuse EDID of old Samsung tv.

(3) considering whether the tv is to old and a new one would be better suited?

At this point I wanted to ask a pro for help on fixing this. I’d love to get TrueHD or atmos come out of my AVR from my QNAP Kodi.

Thank you
Chris

Probably best to note:
I have just plugged a ps4 into the avr and get atmos/TrueHD via bitstream. However when going through the matrix - I get 5.1 DD.
Tomorrow I may try plugging the QNAP directly into the AVR.
