Kodi on Android TV: how to awake TV? (CEC)
#1
Hi Kodi developers,

Is it possible to have Kodi to awake my TV when I send it a content to play?

I send content to kodi from my android smartphone with an UPnP application (Bubble UPnP) and I have kodi installed on an android TV box (a "Xiaomi Mi Box 3").
When I send the content to the Chromecast on this android TV, it awakes my TV. Fine.
When I do the same but select kodi as player, the content is played as I can here the sound but my TV won't wake up. I have to wake up myself and see content correctly played.

I read that Android TV does not allow apps to use CEC signals.
Still, isn't there any workaround or Android TV API that could be used to achieve this? Maybe a kodi plugin can do this?

Thanks for your help.

I guess there is your answer. CEC is the method/"languague" that TVs (and AVRs) can speak to Kodi-capable hardware such as the Raspberry Pi, Odroid C2 and the Pulse-Eight USB-CEC adapter.

Actually I think Android provides a kind-of CEC API:  https://source.android.com/devices/tv/hdmi-cec

I wonder if somehow Kodi could make use of this.

I have the same problem here.
Yatse dev says that he can not build it into yatse:

The AndroidTV remote from google is able to perform this action also the firetv app can switch on the TV.
It would be great to see Kodi support not only on osmc for this feature. I was very happy with it as long as I used my RPi3 with Kodi but on Android this feature is not supported.
I have the remote of firetv and androidtv only for this single use case: switch on the tv
Let me know if there is any bounty on this feature.
