Background Fanarts
#1
hello, I use CoreElec on a Wetek Play 2 with rapier. so far everything runs smoothly, but now I have 2 addons (YouTube and Amazon VOD) placed on the main screen and specified in the settings that fanarts should be displayed in the background, but I only get a black screen as shown in the appendix. what could that be? Enclosed a Kodi log

Hi Coolzero.

Which version of Kodi and which version of Rapier do you use?

Which exact fanart background did you choose for the custom categories?

Do you have any movies or tv shows scraped into your libraries?

I have no idea about this.
It's working fine for me in Kodi 18.

There's no indication of anything related to this in your log.
And the preview thumb in the skin settings is already showing the fanart.

It could be the script not properly updated for Kodi 18.

Did you try restarting Kodi?

Ok, like most of the time this was the problem in front of the monitor. My films and thus fanarts are on a server, and if this is not working, of course, nothing can be displayed :-( Since I am unfortunately not all the time on it come. Still a question, the fanart remains in the background for how long? Until the next Kodi start or is it changed every x minutes? Thank you

Great you got it solved.

When you use Random Fanart for backgrounds, the slideshow will change every 8 seconds. This is default.

You can change it to any value:
Skin Settings > Backgrounds > Backgrounds > Time per Image for fanart backgrounds
The value entered is seconds.

Hello, that is synonymous with me, but the fanart does not change (yes, the server is running :-)) Have waited several minutes. Yet another question, I can also set fanarts or pictures behind other main menu items, as z.b. behind "pictures"? I did not find anything Thank you

You have to explain everything in details:
Your setup, skin settings etc etc.

Yes, that's possible.

Skin settings > Backgrounds > Custom Backgrounds > Movies / Pictures etc.etc.
You can choose the default global background, one single image, multiple images from a folder or a fanart slideshow.

Check the wiki for details about the skin settings and a lot of other useful info: https://kodi.wiki/view/Add-on:Rapier

OK, but can not I use wallpapers stored on my NAS and not local in the Kodi host? I use NFS shares. I do not get any shares under the custom backgrounds
