Then we can´t help at all. No matter which version of Kodi you are using and no matter which OS you are using.
So, related to your IPTV problem, Kodi is not meant to be able to get you any content for free which others have to pay for. That´s not what Kodi is about. Hence the answer you got from @Karellen
To your updating-problem and the reason you might not be an experienced user, I would always recommend LibreELEC as its Kodi version is pretty up-to-date, it´s easy to install and can easily be updated.
For users who know what they are doing (again...not offending you, so please bear with me if my wordings sound harsh!!), want to use other software beside Kodi and its add-ons and are familiar with Linux-based OSs, Raspbian might be a better solution. You can´t to

If you only want to use Kodi, don´t want to fiddle around with Linux, want an easy install/update/upgrade and don´t need anything else -> LibreELEC

apt-get while using LibreELEC as there´s no package manager for it.
