Hello,

at version 17 there is no direct option to rip a CD. You can only choose to rip the CD as default action for inserting a CD. but sometimes you want to listen to it without adding it to the library. And it is not very handsome to switch this in the settings menu for each new disk.
It would be useful to add a single button to rip the current CD from the drive menu or show a selection popup when inserting a new CD.

In the default Estuary skin, there was an oversight and the Rip CD button was not included. The facility within Kodi is still there, and you could access it using another skin. It won't be added to v17 as it is no longer being worked on. I have not checked v18 to see if it is available.

You would be better off using other means of ripping and tagging CD's.

Personally I use...

1. Foobar 2000 to rip the cd's and add basic tags... https://www.foobar2000.org/
2. MusicBrainz Picard for comprehensive tagging... https://picard.musicbrainz.org/
