No Sound on Passthrough DTS-MA / Dolby & ALSA
#1
Hello

Debug-Log to start with.

I'm currently facing issues with DTS-MA and TrueHD playback while DTS and Dolby work fine.

Short overview:
- Ubuntu 18 + Kodi 18 with disabled PulseAudio.
- System Audio Setting set to 5.1 and all passthrough enabled. But no sound on DTS-MA/TrueHD content. (If I disable the "capable receiver" for DTS-MA/TrueHD I get the sound.)
- AVR is a Denon X2400H. I found the discussion concerning DTS-MA HDR. This seems similar but I think the problem lies elsewhere.

Regards

In your case nothing we can do. Experiment with brand new kernels > 4.16

Disable Adjust Refreshrate and try with fixed 1920x1080 at 60 hz.

It seems this one also has a Display Port to HDMI 2.0 bridge integrated. Make sure FW of this lspcon is >= 1.66 - before that it won't work. You need windoze to update it.

Hi

Sorry for the late reply.

About the LSPCon issue. Is this Linux-related? I don't have a NUC (Zotac ZBOX; CI327). I tested a DTS-MA/TrueHD video in VLC under windows and there were no issues with the passthrough.

Forcing the refresh rate didn't help either. Changing resolutions/refresh rates doesn't work very well on my installation. 4k videos force a 1080p resolution as well.

Are we at a "Linux just isn't ready for this" point?

No. Has nothing to do with Linux. DTS-HD MA works since more than 5 years on Linux :-)

Alright. So I'm still at a loss then how to resolve this.

What did you mean by "In your case nothing we can do. Experiment with brand new kernels > 4.16"?

Thanks for the help by the way.

boot Linux with: drm.debug=0xe and post dmesg | pastebinit after booting.

Did you whitelist display modes from settings?

Hi to both

Resolution issue was solved by setting a custom EDID via this guide (the guide needs some modifications though).

@Fritsch: Pastebin - I hope this is as expected.

Thanks again
