Yes this will give you the last svn, and the release number could change every day. Currently it is svn23588.

I just tried, but I get:

xbmc-standalone: Depends: xbmc-common (= 9.04.3+svn23422-jaunty1) but 9.04.3+svn22528-jaunty2 is installed

I know I have 22528, but it looks like it wants to install 23422 (which I just downgraded from. What am I doing wrong? I know I can use -f to force this, but I don't want 23422 I want 23588 (or later)

After removing the old packages you should update and install.

I followed the instructions to get 22528 back, every thing worked fine but a couple of packages where missing compared to the post at the beginning.

I went and took a look at my logs for my MintUpdate Manager and saw that everything was fine until the late evening of Oct 9th. Was on 23539 and every thing was fine. It was the packages I upgraded to on the morning of Oct 10 and later on in the day when I got up to SVN 23588. Major symptom was with VDPAU enabled, and as soon as a video that used VDPAU the whole XBMC crashed every time. I looked at the XBMC crash logs while I had debug enabled and it it would crash with ffmpeg or something like that, I'll have to look later.

I got SVN 23539 back without removing anything just use the "sudo dpkg -i --force-all Package names1 names2 etc", it does it all. Note that I did exit XBMC and use SSH to wget the packages and the sudo dpkg command.

Below is what work for me. As soon as the "sudo dpkg" finished, XBMC started right away. I rebooted from XBMC just to make sure everything went fine. The HTPC booted up right into XBMC. I need an easier way to boot back into my MintLinux to do maintenance work on shared hard drives and stuff, anyone got any suggestions for the grub menu for a Gnome session option?

Hopefully you will understand what i mean, tab is were useful.

I had the same problem and managed to rollback to 23588 from the copy in var/cache/apt/archives.

I've also have problem with svn23626 - but after rollback to svn23588 after playing a whole avi file (fe tvshow episode) I get a black screen and my xbmc freeze. If i just before end of file hit 'display' I get an ordinary menu and everything is working.

Many thanks MrDVD for the commands to replace the version. After I updated XBMC today it was acting quite strange. With your instructions I was able to replace it with a more stable SVN version. Cheers!

The tab is helpful for completing the package names just the way you did: typing the beginning (e.g. xbmc) and examining all matching packages via tab. Then you can either use the wildcard '*' for selecting all packages or entering exact package names.
when installing already downloaded packages (residing in /var/cache/apt or anywhere else) you can examine the complete filename with a tab. Helpful in case there is more than one version downloaded. In this case you need the exact version for installing.
