jackie brown didn't say this. he was just stating another possible option to get XBMC running without too much hassle. not everybody *needs* to be on SVN build status...
add.: regarding the SVN PPA, this is interesting:
XXX@netbox:~$ sudo apt-add-repository ppa:team-xbmc-svn/ppa
[sudo] password for XXX:
Executing: gpg --ignore-time-conflict --no-options --no-default-keyring --secret-keyring /etc/apt/secring.gpg --trustdb-name /etc/apt/trustdb.gpg --keyring /etc/apt/trusted.gpg --primary-keyring /etc/apt/trusted.gpg --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com --recv A292248FCB9CFB8689A30B7A2BBD133164234534
gpg: requesting key 64234534 from hkp server keyserver.ubuntu.com
gpg: key 64234534: "Launchpad PPA for XBMC SVN BUILDING" not changed
gpg: Total number processed: 1
gpg: unchanged: 1
XXX@netbox:~$ sudo apt-get update
E: Type 'n' is not known on line 2 in source list /etc/apt/sources.list.d/team-xbmc-svn-ppa-lucid.list
some days ago I removed the XBMC SVN PPA due to the build problems and went to the stable repo instead by doing a ppa-purge; editing the list and deleting the "n" finally did the job... I have no idea where that "n" came from.
add.: okay, after doing some additional apt-get cleanups (xbmc-bin and xbmc-data (9.11) weren't updated due to dependency/version errors and haven't been purged/autoremoved either) I'm finally back to SVN with pre-10.5 xbmc and xbmc-live on lucid64, looking good so far!
p.s. is it supposed to be running in "windowed" mode? when I try to change this in settings, XBMC goes to the far left corner of my xscreen in a very small windows and the "windowed" option does not change, but I can change back easily. please bear in mind that I'm on ubuntu minimal with no GUI/window manager whatsoever. and one word to the devs: I LOVE what you did with the audio settings, awesome to have all these output&receiver settings now finally integrated into GUI!
