I had problems with video being choppy so I started with a new clean system: installed lucid on a clean hard drive, done all the upgrades, restarted and then:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:team-xbmc-svn/ppa
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install xbmc
Successfully build xbmc at SVN33035 but video is choppy no matter what option I select from system/video.
I thought the older version is buggy since the video was choppy too, but this one behaves exactly the same.
This thing blows me away: I have installed XBMC onto a USB flash from a SVN XBMC 10.xx live CD. This is at version SVN32246 and it works perfect. It boots right from the USB.
It is set with identical settings with the one installed on the hard drive and it reports the same video driver version. Why an older version would work and a newer not?
When working with the USB version, while playing video the CPU average is around 45-50% and when running the hard drive version, the latest on PPA, the CPU is running at over 70% and frames are dropping.
Do you guys offer any advice? How could I transfer/copy the working version onto the hard drive but to have desktop, browsing, etc?
I have seen others having the similar problems but no solution yet. Everyone that installed the SVN version is running smooth?
I have a on-board video Intel GMA4500 (G43) chip.
