Solved QNAP - MySQL Issues
#1
Hi,

OSX Version  - 10.13.1
Platform - MacMini
Install Method - dmg
Version of Kodi/XBMC - Alpha 2 Leia

I recently moved house and all of a sudden my Kodi runs really slow when connecting to my MySQL Database. The only thing that changed when I moved was I upgraded to Kodi Alpha 2. I did notice that the database migration didn't happen like it normally did upon launch. But this could be because I had been running nightly and it was already upgraded.

Watching movies directly from my Mac Mini is fine. When I can eventually get to play a show within Kodi it is fine. However it takes about 10 minutes for me to finally get to be able to play a show. That's with two minutes just to load Kodi. Looking at activity monitor my Kodi goes not responding during this time. I also checked the the load on my QNAP and its fine as well.

I currently don't have internet setup yet, but I tested internet on my Kodi Box just by using a hotspot on my phone and removing the default gateway on my ethernet address and still the same issue.

I have turned on debugging and had a look at the logs but I can't seem to see anything. I have also tried a brand new install of Kodi as well. So seems to be something with MySQL Database but just not sure what it could be?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

One tiny thing: you are running MariaDB and not MySQL. There is a subtle difference Smile

Kodi starts to update the video's streamdetails database table just fine after some 3 minutes into the video detection. That is not a database problem IMO, that looks more like a SMB problem to me.

Any ideas on what I could try? I thought SMB as well. I can connect via SMB from my MacBook Pro and iMac fine to my QNAP and watch shows. Same from my Mac mini. Just within Kodi it is slow until I can finally play a show then it’s fine. If it was SMB wouldn’t it not load at all?

Not sure what else I could try Sad. I could maybe try load up my other Kodi box and scan the content in locally to the Mac mini instead of the database?

Fixed it. So because I don’t have internet the database for whatever reason was trying to do reverse look ups when a connection was coming in. Was looking at the logs on the QNAP when Kodi was making a connection. Just removed DNS for now until my internet is good.

Order has been restored. Thank you for the help Smile
