Tried hunting the forums for an answer, but it just felt like I was getting a sea of things not relevant.

I got Kodi to work to stream to my android phone while I am out and about, is there a way to connect a remote PC to my home video library using Kodi?  If so how?

Hi, how did you get the remote streaming working, please? I am trying to stream to my weekend house, from my home NAS synology. So far, no success... Any help welcome!

Although technically possible, its not easy to use Kodi in this way.  Accessing resources remotly would ideally need a VPN into your router/firewall as you dont want to expose your SMB shares to the internet.

Then you would likely get issues with lack of bandwidth for some files and could overwhelm some devices.

For remote access consider also running Plex or Emby on your media server - they are designed to provide remote access in this way and will also transcode content on the fly.  You'll find a lot of Kodi users use these in this way.
