What version do you have installed?

The most recent from the Intel NUC Page.

What's your concern with the log line?

Your answer doesn't tell me anything.

My concern is you have your desktop resolution set at 3840x2160@60Hz, and I want to know if you graphics module has the power to run that.

Quick test. Reduce your Desktop Resolution to 1920x1080. Restart.

Now play your bluray. Does it work correctly now?

The shows only 2 audio channels are available however HD audio requires 8 channels, since the HD format support is reported this is most likely an equipment set up problem.

How is your NUC connected to the AVR? How is the AVR connected to the TV? Do you use ARC between TV and AVR?

How can I configure how many channels should be available?

The NUC is connected via a brand new HDMI2.0 cable to the AVR, then via another new cable to the TV. No ARC Channel is used.

Edit: I have 5 speakers connected to my AVR. I'm thinking it should be able to decode the passed through stream from the original DTS-HD 7.1 to 5.0 (in the AVR, not in Kodi!)

You can't, this information is provided by the audio driver to Kodi.

Do you always make sure the AVR is powered on before the NUC? if at all unsure reboot the NUC while the AVR is on.

Actually, I do, as my TV&AVR are powered on first before starting the NUC

Do you have this driver installed https://downloadcenter.intel.com/de/down...duct=95062

I think that's the replacement for the Intel Management Engine driver which used to required for HD audio to provide the PAP protection.

Try to disable ARC in the AVR, please.
First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.

Well, the readme is outdated, and the tool either does nothing or produces a black screen for more than 5mins, depending on the selection of the two files to be selected. Only cutting the power from the NUC helps
