Sync playlists between devices
#1
Hi

Is it possible to create or edit an audio playlist on one device and the result will show up on another device? For example if I edit an audio playlist at my Windows computer and later when I use Kodi on my tablet the changes have been done.

Many thanks in advance

In the userdata/playlists/music you will find the playlist as an .xps file, a simple copy to the same folder in alternate devices will make this playlist available. You can either do this manually or set-up some batch file to do the task or consider https://kodi.wiki/view/Syncing_and_sharing

I prefer dropbox or shared server and either Kodi path substitution (path substitutions are sometimes unstable) or Windows symbolic links... try http://schinagl.priv.at/nt/hardlinkshell...nsion.html

I use path substitution to sync playlists, favorites, keymaps and etc between devices. I've created a shared network location and redirect items like special://masterprofile/playlists/ to it.

Hi

Thank you all for your replies! Yes I'm looking for a solution that do the task for me in the background. I forgot to mention but besides playlists I would also like it to sync the settings under Video, Audio on the front menu. So if I reorganize the selections (folders) under Movies, TV shows etc they will be updated on all other units. It also has to work over the Internet as some units is not always connected to my WLAN. From what I read from you perhaps the Path substitution is my best choose. Or perhaps the add on Emby would be an easy way to get started. The MySQL protocol also seems like a good solution, if its not to hard to set up.

Kind regards

That works great up to leia but it won't work for favourites in v18 - favourites no longer mirror the contents of favourites.xml.

Not sure I follow. I have a favourites.xml in a shared location that v17.6 and v18 are reading and updating as expected when items are added/removed.
