I am having trouble editing the background of this skin. If I the skin.metropolis.zip and change the background.png kodi does not want to install it from zip. I get failed to install error. Also having trouble changing the background image for individivual menu items. Please help

what do you mean change BG.png in zipped skin ? are you saying that after changing the png to a custom one you are then rezipping your build and then trying to install the whole build from zip?

Yes, the file is background.png after I change it the new zip file will not install.

Offhand, maybe one of two reasons:
Your zip program has screwed up the folder structure (no root folder or it's moved in one more folder) or is just not making a compatible zip.
Or you have kept the same version in the addon.xml and Kodi doesn't see a reason to install the same version again.
You could always just use the skin settings menu and change whatever background you like.
Using a NUC7PJYHN and a 2820FYKH0 Intel NUC running LibreELEC, and two FireTVs.:)
