18.0-Beta1 Can not play video if UPnP players are enabled.
#1
This problem started in 17.6 and still exists in  Kodi (18.0-BETA1 Git:20180802-8384518).

If you enable the setting "Look for remote UPnP players" then you can not play video without going through the context menu and explicitly choose "VideoPlayer" in the Context Menu-> "Play from here" menu item. Choosing "(Default)" fails.

It did not help to define <video> <defaultPlayer>VideoPlayer<...> In my advancedSettings.

The log is at https://www.dropbox.com/s/e69s2gvfd7oc6b...r.log?dl=0

My system is running Ubuntu 16.04

Where did u get Beta1 from? It seems unstable and nightly ppa are kinda frozen .... did you compile it yourself?

Looks like I got it from ppa.launchpad.net/team-xbmc/xbmc-nightly/ubuntu xenial main. I did not compile it.
Overall this build works great. Which one do you recommend?

Oh, alright ... well there seems to be only new kodi builds missing for bionic :-(
Edit: looking at the launchpad web site, also for xenial it lists

2:18.0+git20180802.0202-8384518-0xenial

as the current build. Is this now called beta1? Or what is your beta1 dated?

I'll install new build from nightly once it arrives, then retest.

Confirmed problem present in (18.0-BETA1 Git:20180828-f21b477).

To reproduce:
Enable Settings -> Services ->UPnP /  DLNA -Look for remote UpnP players.
Restart Kodi
Try to play any video. It won't unless you use the Context Menu to explicitly select "Play using..." -> "VideoPlayer".

Note that log is from Kodi-wayland, but it fails using normal X as well. Log at: https://www.dropbox.com/s/cp30qm9vielu8y...P.log?dl=0
