As soon as I install the RX6700XT the same thing happens to me.

I hope it gets solved with new drivers whenever they come out. I'll be installing Windows 11 in a months time so it hopefully works there.

Hi, I saw a fix for this issue on another thread. It involves using an alternate DirectX display package. You unzip it into the Kodi fodler and Kodi uses these alternate DirectX display DLLs.

It has worked for me using a 6800XT on Kodi 18 and 19.

I used the linked .dll files and it does indeed fix the broken font issue. Unfortunately, for me, it broke the color reproduction so that everything played in HDR looks washed out. Reverting to the default DirectX by removing the 6 files from the root Kodi directory restored the correct colors, but, of course, the font issue also returned. Has anybody else experienced this?

I’m using a 6900XT, latest AMD drivers as of 10-9-21, on Windows 10

I just went from a 5500xt (no font issue) to a 6700xt and now the font issue appears.

Doing a clean install of Windows on a new build soon so will see if that helps (probably won't).

I'm on a clean install of 11 and the issue persists just as it did on a clean install of 10.  AMD needs to address it in Adrenaline but they seem to just be borking more features with each new release.  FYI stay away from 21.10.2 or at least read the release notes before you install it so you won't be surprised by the outcome.

Same issue with RX 6600. The posted fix is working but the mouse cursor is now super jaggy and laggy, like a delay - thats even more annoying than the actual problem. :/

I opened an issue on github for this a while ago. I think the investigation so far seems to show something in Kodi could change to fix the issue. See here:

Bumping this thread as I have just started to have this issue and I am a new owner of an 6900xt and never had this problem with rx580, I have done a complete driver wipe and fresh install and still the last letter is corrupted.

Yes, please fix this. It's quite an eye-sore that distracts from all the great things about Kodi.

I've been trying to learn font handling in Kodi (not there yet).  Basic process in in GUIFontTTF.  Kodi uses the Freetype2 open source library to access trutype fonts.  For the most part I think Kodi sends a unicode codepoint to freetype and freetype returns the character.  I don't know how special unicode codepoints like non-spacing characters, variation selectors, etc are handled.  But this issue seems to be with strictly ascii codepoints so that shouldn't be involved.

Has anyone try the current version of dxvk, 1.10 to see if it breaks HDR?

What's the best way of getting someone looking into this problem, either on Kodi's side or AMD's side? Anyone using Radeon Rx 6000 series graphic cards will run into this problem. That's got to be pretty widespread.

I tried to work around this problem by using both dxvk 1.10.1 and Kodi 17.6 DSplayer with MadVR (to get around the HDR problem), but I got the sluggish mouse issue. Has anyone tried other version of dxvk that doesn't change their mouse behavior?
