Solved Did the unstable and nightly channels drop 17.10?
#1
Hey there,

I am kind of stuck on 17.10 due to nvidia dropping legacy support on any later kernels and I noticed that both unstable and nightly stopped getting builds.

Is there a specific reason for that and is that just temporary? There are still some playback issues (dropped frames and syncing) especially on streamed content and I don't really want to go back to v17. Smile

Thanks!

After support for a specific Ubuntu version has ended, one can't push new versions to Launchpad (PPAs).

I hate to say it, but Kodi works just fine with the LTS versions 16.04 and 18.04. Nvidia has 'proper' support for HTPC machines via the graphics drivers PPA.

Why get stuck on 17.10 anyway? As per the Ubuntu Wiki, Ubuntu 17.10 will be supported for 9 months until July 2018., which is over and done now.

When 18.04 was new I tried that PPA and it didn't work at all (missing dependency IIRC), that's why I reverted to 17.10. And since it was unmaintained I didn't expect anything to change. The bug thread states "fixed" now, I didn't know, thanks! Smile
