v18 Need some setup guidance
#1
I would like to use server WMC in conjunction with Kodi 18 beta for live TV.  I currently use the HDHR pvr client, and it mostly works but the guide data is terrible, while my WMC guide data is really good, hence my wish to change.  I have serverwmc installed on my machine, and I haven't touched any settings, and I'm not getting any error messages.  Before I attempt a connection, is there anything I should change in server WMC to facilitate its connection to Kod?  I would like to have Live TV pause, and rewind capabilities, and my understanding is that streaming via DLNA will negate my ability to do so.  Should I stream over http to Kodi, or is there some other method that works out of the box?  Thank you.

Nothing has to change in wmc.  If your kodi client is on a different machine then wmc&serverwmc then you need to make the recorded tv folder on that machine a network share so that your clients can access it.  Then fill in the unc path to this network share in the Folders tab of serverwmc.

Thanks for help. Is there a way to backup my server MC setting gs before I make a change?

I'm not sure what settings you are concerned of losing, since you wrote that you left serverwmc at the default settings.  But to answer the question (I think), go to %programdata%\vdsoftware\serverwmc and make a copy of config.xml.

Thanks for the help, and this kind of works but I can't figure out how to enable time shifting.  I have read posts that have alluded to how it must be enabled in the skin but I haven't had any luck switching skins.  I don't have DLNA or http streaming enabled if that helps.  Is there some way I can troubleshoot this?

I went through a big upgrade over the weekend, upgrading some Kodi boxes to 18 Beta 1 (due to Netflix plugin, damn kids) and found out late Sunday night, it seems time shifting is broken in Beta 1.
The latest nightly had fixed Live TV Pause, but still no rewind or fast forward.
It looks like they are restructuring/re-coding parts of the time shifting code.
A fix would be nice, but for now I am holding tight to see if they fix it in Beta 2/Nightlies.

FYI, time shifting still works in Alpha 3

How timely!  I just submitted a PR to the kodi team that implements their stream function which fixes your problem with kodi18.  Fingers cross that they will accept it.

Edit:  By 'problem' I mean the timeshifting problem with pvr.wmc.

Thanks for that but I can't seem to get this to install.   I first tried to drag and drop the pvr.wmc download into the userdata/addons folder but nothing changed, and I still couldn't rewind live TV ( I have moved to beta 2 since I started this thread).  Then I tried installing it as a zip, but I get a addon could not be loaded error, along with this in my log.  I unblocked the file as well but still no lock.  I even tried to delete the old pvr.wmc folder in the same location, then import the new one but no luck

13:47:45.365 T:5672   ERROR: Win32DllLoader::Load: Failed to load "C:\Users\Family\AppData\Roaming\Kodi\addons\pvr.wmc\pvr.wmc.dll" with error 126: "The specified module could not be found.

I'm looking through my folder structure now to confirm the file isn't there.  EDIT:  The file is where the log says it can't find it.

That link I posted are changes I made to the pvr.wmc addon source code which is part of Kodi, you cannot run them.  We are waiting now to see if the kodi team will incorporate the changes (i.e. accept the pull request or PR) into Kodi.  If they do, you have to install a new version of kodi to get them.  Sorry for not explaining before.

I need some setup guidance as well, but for 19.0-BETA2 (18.9.821) currently running on a firestick.  I'm using a Win 7 Dell pc with a 64-bit OS as my server with a Hauppauge tuner installed and configured.  I have configured WMC in the pc as well and some channels are coming through with the indoor antenna I connected to the tuner.  I haven't made any major changes, at least not to my knowledge, to the ServerWMC version I installed on the server.  The version is the one from the older stable release uploaded on 11-4-2016.  Anyways, after I installed the ServerWMC addon in Kodi, I went over to the pc and opened the ServerWMC application.  I then heard a sound from my Kodi client as if the channels from WMC were loading, when I checked I noticed the Importing Guide from clients function got stuck at 5%.  Any advice or recommendation would be greatly appreciated.  I'll go ahead and post the logs in the link provided below.
