 Why do you want to cache data in memory or even on storage that get's only read once?

I understood it as a buffer which smoothens out fluctuations in transmission, being related to Kodi's cache settings, see here.

Since it's a live stream we can't fetch ahead. So a cache is of no use, it'll only contain old data. At least unless initial playback waits a bit. I don't think this is the case.
