2018 - Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K
I'm having another issue with the Fire TV. I've got 576p and 480p whitelisted as resolutions. It's outputting anamorphic widescreen content as letterboxed widescreen. So rather than my TV being able to automatically stretch the picture and correct the aspect ratio from DVDs with anamorphic widescreen content they have black bars top and bottom. I have no such issue with my Vero4K with OSMC (Kodi essentially) sitting on top of it.

The refresh rate/resolution switching works fine but this is a bit annoying. DIsplay 4:3 videos is set to Normal (as the Vero is).

Any thoughts as I'm at a bit of a loss.

I have one and it works perfectly.  You'll also need one of these.

I don't think the Fire Stick 4K even does Gigabit.

I don't think the Fire Stick 4K even does Gigabit. 
It doesn't but by using a USB 3.0 gigabit ethernet adapter you can get upwards of 300Mbps which is significantly better than Amazon's official 10/100 LAN adapter for Fire TV devices.

What iperf throughput do you achieve with that adapter?

Ran a test using Magic iPerf on my FTV Stick 4K in iperf3 mode, and between it and my PC, the results are:

Over wi-fi (have a Netgear Orbi wi-fi5 mesh system), w/o the adapter, it's:

I also have iperf3 installed on my Synology NAS, but don't know how to run a test between it and Fire TV.

Edit: Removed images, sorry. W/adapter, in the 350Mbps range. Over wi-fi, a bit over 100Mbps.

Looks good. Those are perhaps slightly better than what the device can achieve via 5ghz iirc.

I've held off buying the ethernet adapter for now, at least until this highly anticipated 1080i fix surfaces.

That's just with a bog-standard sky router, and so far it seems to be easily able to keep up with my 4k Blu-ray rips.
