Maybe what Sony guy said is true, let's hope this can be fixed soon.  Smile

$ adb install tv-release-org.rabi.kohl.apk
adb: failed to install tv-release-org.rabi.kohl.apk: Failure [INSTALL_FAILED_INSUFFICIENT_STORAGE: Failed rename]
Yep, I can confirm that the kohlrabi build doesn't install on the AF9. Other builds work great.

Perfect - thanks for your feedback.

That means. We were blocked - but "by accident" - and additionally all applications with "ko" in name additionally.

Btw. just for brainstorming: Which popular apps do you have in mind that have "ko" in their PACKAGE_ID ? It would be evil to think, that they block entire "ko" "by accident" - but mainly hitting only kodi - as the rest no one installs ... but as we don't think evil ... that did not happen, right? :-)

So then: Dear Sony-Folks. Don't assume something is a kernel object, just cause it has "ko" somewhere in its PACKAGE_ID, imagine you had tried to load such a module (especially one with kodi's size) ...
First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.

Which one of them is popular and is normally installed on TVs? :-) - you know this was a rethoric question - if you want to block kodi, but don't want to make it obvious - and are very evil, you would exactly match every "ko" in PACKAGE_ID - and afterwards say: ouhhh what an accident.

But: Don't assume evil. There was nothing in the past that Sony did evil to their customers. Therefore don't assume evil.

Hint: Sarcasm is hidden in this post.

I was just looking for apps that have a "ko" in the PACKAGE ID to test the installation process. These have nothing to do with anything else. They are also not Android TV optimized apps.

BTW:
I don't think Sony really wanted to deliberately block Kodi, because then they would have openly admitted it and thought about a communication strategy beforehand (then they would also have blocked KODI and not just KO).
But at the moment even the Sony PRs were surprised and didn't know about an alleged blocking and officially excluded it!

Think again about why blocking *ko* instead of *kodi* would be much smarter to do.

Using KO to block installs instead of Kodi gives them a ready made excuse if you want to be cynical about this, so if found out they can use the "oh sorry about that it was an accident" line, obviously this risks them blocking other apps but perhaps they checked Play store and found nothing that someone would be liely to run on a TV.

That is very far-fetched, but if one were to assume "evil intentions", yes, a possible theory.

We are talking about Sony. PS3 + Linux, Root-Kit on Audio CDs, another Root-Kit to remove the other Root-Kit ... but we all hope they learned from the past.

...they were just desperate, the music and game industry is even worse Wink

Can someone please try to install my 3 apps above on an AF9, which have nothing to do with Kodi.
If that doesn't work, I believe Sony the alleged error, otherwise, it was intentional...
