in the past Ambilight wasn't something interesting for me. But for some reason I'm getting motivated to try it out. There seem to be several software solutions like Boblight, Lightberry, Ambient Lightning.
But in every tutorial I've found they use a Raspberry PI or something similar for converting the video signal. I just wonder, if that's really necessary. Currently my Kodi is running on a x86 Linux HTPC. The TV is connected via RGB (HDMI on TV is broken).
Is it possible to connect the LED chain via USB to an ordinary PC or do I really have to plug a RPi between the PC and the TV?
