Kodi Webserver Video Stream
#1
Hi,

i use the kodi webserver and want to stream videos from it if i am at friends for example but the html5 stream has no sound in the most videos and the vlc plugin want work because it is no longer supported by firefox. How can i now stream my videos from the webserver ? I use the standart webserver integrated in kodi with the chorus2 interface. I have tryed to copie the video url and open in directly in vlc too, but it do not work.

Thanks for your help

Kodi is designed as a media client application, not a server. Kodi does have UPnP/DLNA capabilities for videos & music scanned into their libraries.
For outside access you are better off with a proper web/ftp/etc.. server.
There is also the additional configuration in your router to enable outside access to your server(s).

I have done all that and for videos with AAC Sound it works great only for the others not.

Kodi could be a server there is not much to do. On https connection for the webserver and a multi user system. More functions is a good thing or not ? It could be like plex.

Actually, Plex is like Kodi Wink

Kodi is meant as a frontend player, not so much a server.

this is a client side issue. Make sure your player actually supports the video and audio codec. Kodi does not transcode.

Quite a few people use Kodi and Plex together.  Kodi is great media player with a lot of powerful features and customisation.  Plex allows remote access to your media from anywhere.
