[RELEASE] Apple Movie Trailers Lite (formerly AMT II) Plugin
#46
Thumbs Up
cyrus_mc Wrote:How do you set the plugin setting for video quality? All I ever get is the standard def trailer (and I know they have 1080p ones since if I go to the apple.com/trailers website they are listed there).
You do it form the plugin's "rightclick" menu; choose "plugin settings".

Anyway thanks for this plugin Nuka, it works great! Smile

I agree with Nazgulled that it would be best if the plugin tries your selected quality first, and if that is not available it tries the next step down in quality, so that you get all possible trailers. But for me that's just an extra bonus, 720p only works great for me at the moment Smile

Keep up the good work!

I wish it was that simple... The problem is that not all 720p movies are "detected" in this plugin and there are some movies which don't have HD trailers (it's starting to not be that common, but it still happens) and you'll miss all those movies.

I think the problem lies how this plugin finds the trailers. As far as I could tell, it checks an RSS feed and the optimal way to get everything posted is to check page code itself.

Script is working great under today's SVN, I have set it to 720p quality and it is working great. The only issue I have, and I saw this with the previous AMT plugin is that when viewing 720p trailers, there is a horrizontal white line across the bottom of the video being played. Has anyone else noticed this? is there a fix?

Thanks,
Rob

maybe fixed at 19544:

fixed: some mov files would play with a white line at the bottom of the display

I would also love for it to use the quality setting as a "preferred" quality, but downgrade if not available. Would it be possible to scan the rss feed (or whatever source the plugin is using) at the selected quality, then also at the next lowest and so on, then compare the lists resulting in only showing the highest quality of each available trailer?

Great Script - I love to watch the trailers on my TV!

But my problem is that the text is very small.
I can't find a font size entry in the xml files only I see is this for example:
Code:
...
<font>font13</font>
...
I'm not sure if I add something like
Code:
...
<font>font13</font>
<fontsize>20</fontsize>
...

Can someone help me please Huh

cheers,
David

On my MacMini it's crashing all the times... I have the latest beta (9.04) installed and have 3 different versions of Apple Movie Trailers installed (all from SVN's)
Is there "the version" that is also working? would be great if somebody could post me a link to it Smile
thanks

Sorry, can't help you with Mac, but it works fine for me using Windows Vista x64 and a late version of XBMC's smoothvideo branch.

The only thing I'm missing is the ability to search for a certain trailer, is this something you're planning to include Nuka? If not, what quicktime plugin offer this functionality (and works Tongue)?

Question
For me, this script dosen't seem to stream any 1080p trailers.

I've checked, and those 1080p trailers DO exist on apple's website.

Download&Save (1080) - the plugin attempts to download the trailer, but does not start.

Regarding the idea of finding 1080 first, then 720 if not avail etc. +1 here

But the main bugbear is the 1080 trailers in the first place. Why does the script have a hard time locating them? Surely they would just be roughly the same url on apple's site apart from trailer720 becomes trailer1080 (crude example).

Huh

ps- Using XBMC Babylon 20024 (WinXP) , using script that came bundled with this build.

As far as I could understand from the code, this script uses an RSS feed to locate the trailers which is a bad choice in my opinion. The best way to get every trailer in every resolution possible is to parse the page HTML and get the links from there.

I think a fallback to 720p if 1080p is not found is a good idea, but it isn't the main issue here.

I did a pcap and the URLs the plugin requests are different from what is posted on the Apple website. For example, I looked a 4 trailers with Download as the chosen mode and tried 720p (worked) and 1080p (didn't work). Here are the URLs the plugin requested, compared with the website URLs:

Code:
Land of the Lost
Plugin 720p:   http://movies.apple.com/movies/universal/landofthelost/landofthelost-tlr2_a720p.m4v
Plugin 1080p:  http://movies.apple.com/movies/universal/landofthelost/landofthelost-tlr2_h1080p.m4v
Website 720p:  http://movies.apple.com/movies/universal/landofthelost/landofthelost-tlr2_720p.mov
Website 1080p: http://movies.apple.com/movies/universal/landofthelost/landofthelost-tlr2_1080p.mov

Night At the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian
Plugin 720p:   http://movies.apple.com/movies/fox/nightatthemuseum2/nightatthemuseum2-tlro_a720p.m4v
Plugin 1080p:  http://movies.apple.com/movies/fox/nightatthemuseum2/nightatthemuseum2-tlro_h1080p.m4v
Website 720p:  http://movies.apple.com/movies/fox/nightatthemuseum2/nightatthemuseum2-tlro_720p.mov
Website 1080p: http://movies.apple.com/movies/fox/nightatthemuseum2/nightatthemuseum2-tlro_1080p.mov

Website 1080p: http://movies.apple.com/movies/paramount/star_trek/startrek-tlr3_1080p.mov

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

Plugin 1080p:  http://movies.apple.com/movies/paramount/transformers2/transformersrevengeofthefallen-tlr2r_h1080p.m4v
Website 720p:  http://movies.apple.com/movies/paramount/transformers2/transformersrevengeofthefallen-tlr2r_720p.mov
Website 1080p: http://movies.apple.com/movies/paramount/transformers2/transformersrevengeofthefallen-tlr2r_1080p.mov
In the case of the 1080p versions, Apple's server returned a 404 Not Found for all of them. One differencee I see in the URLs used by the plugin vs. Apple's website is that the 720p URL used by the plugin has an "a" before the resolution, and the 1080p URL has a "h" before the resolution. These letters are not present in the URLs listed on the Apple website. Perhaps these characters could be stripped by the plugin. The other difference is the file extension.

You noticed the "a" and the "h" but you didn't notice that the file extension is also different?

Surprisingly enough, no I didn't. I have updated the post to reflect that.
