Req Manual movieset-thumb selector and filter for movieset images
#1
First I want to say thanks for that great tool.

But there are somethings that I'm missing.
Why is there no way to manually change/add a movieset-thumb on the Extra Artwork tab?
 There are only options for Logo, Clearlogo, Banner and Clearart. I mean generally the thumb that gets scraped from fanart.tv is fine but sometimes I want a different one or make one   myself. Then the only way to change it is to rename and copy it to the correct location. And I'm not sure how that affects the image cache.

The other thing is that I wish that there was a way to disable certain images for moviesets to be scraped in the first place.
 There are already options to to that for movies but not for sets.

according to the Kodi wiki there is only poster and fanart supported for movie sets: https://kodi.wiki/view/Movie_artwork#Movieset_Fanart
cannot remember when I included that artwork - must have been years ago Wink

I will not include that in v2 but I added this to the todo list on v3... but since movie sets are kinda deprecated (even in Kodi) this has lowest priority here

Not sure why you think that, and I have seen you mention it a few times. Movie Sets are still strong and in use. Scrapers were updated earlier this year to scrape movie set overview. There is more work being performed on it currently.

Artwork has been extended for movie sets... https://github.com/xbmc/xbmc/pull/14667

Other work recently done to Sets...
https://github.com/xbmc/xbmc/pull/14523
https://github.com/xbmc/xbmc/pull/14868
https://github.com/xbmc/xbmc/pull/14531
https://github.com/xbmc/xbmc/pull/14909

As you can see, quite a lot of work has happened just in the last few weeks, so Movie Sets is not depracated.

@Karellen I've read that somewhere a few years ago and have not noticed, that Kodi puts energy into movie sets

If there are more infos on the wiki how files should be named, we can include that (only v3 as stated above)

I think the best person to answer that would be @rmrector as he has put a good deal of work into it and hopefully he can shed more light on it. At the moment, there is no agreement on how Movie Sets are to be handled for local artwork and metadata.

Kodi only has a basic implementation where poster and fanart are saved in the movie folder of each movie in the set and named as follows...

Poster = set or <filename>-set
Fanart = setfanart or <filename>-setfanart

rmrector is pushing for the separate Movie Set folder structure where all set information can be saved. This approach seems to make the best sense, rather than saving multiple copies in the movies belonging to the set.

The actual artwork naming will be the same as the movie file naming when saved in the movie set folder structure.

There is also this thread here which is attempting to standardise artwork naming... https://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid...pid2734990

"set" as set poster and "setfanart" as set fanart came from scrapers during a period of Leia after scrapers could add any artwork type and before Kodi actually supported set artwork from scrapers. This never worked as expected and it's not ideal for files to be saved like that.

Leia still won't have a central place for local set artwork to exist and be picked up by Kodi itself, but I hope to set that up for Kodi v19. I intend it to work much like the "Artist information folder", with sub-directories for each movie set. FWIW Artwork Beef does add artwork like this, the first set of examples in the documentation here.

That's great to hear Smile
haven't checked the MovieSets since Kodi 15/16.
Should follow github mor often...

Is the "a movie can only be part of one set" limit gone now?
This is why all suggested to use "tags", although not looking half as good...

No, it is still a limitation. Only one set per movie.

We tend to push the Smart Playlists and Custom_home_items (wiki) more than the Tags option as it gives them the option of doing things like this... https://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid...pid2747927
