While browsing my video library after a rescan, I noticed an issue with the line underneath the movie title in the Movies section, with the "Big Icons" view selected. Judging by the screenshot preview for this view, I ought to be seeing movie genre information, but all I see is "No information available" for all the movies in my library...
Movie Library - Big Icons View
... What am I missing? Is this a bug or down to a missing addon or dependancy? I see there are some other views that also display the same "No information available" message, in certain areas. I'll get you a list / screenshots if required.
TIA,
Dan / Gib.
This line should actually show genre information, you are right. For me, on my test system and my N2 it's all fine... . Does this also happen on other skins?
On VideoInfo is there a genre information?
I figured out what's causing it. It's not a skin issue. I have 4 movies in my collection that lack corresponding NFO files. For these movies, the genre information is displayed as expected. For everything else, nada. The movies that do have NFO files however, do not contain genre information. I think the program used to write out the NFO files is not writing genre information, and thus when the library scan is performed, even though I use the TMDB scraper, it's not adding the information missing from the NFO file to the video database. This could be down to timeouts with regards the TMDB, as we all know, due to Covid-19, the internet as a whole is more saturated atm than during normal times. Will do some more testing and see if I can force-update / re-create the NFO files with the missing information added.
I used to use tinyMediaManager to organize my video library, but it does not play well with the way I want my TV shows to be organized / named / structured, so figuring that Kodi's built-in scrapers would be good enough (assuming the folder and file names for all video content was accurate) I uninstalled it. Might be an idea to go back to it now v3 is out.
Another mystery (partially) solved.
