Hi everyone!

I'm interested in contributing to Kodi. I want to understand video and audio handling better and it seemed like the right place for me.

I couldn't find on Github an issue that seemed appropriate. Many of those labeled "help wanted" were on different platform than mine (they were android and UWP and I have Linux)

I'm looking for an issue like a bug I can reproduce and hunt through the code, or a feature request (even a very boring one, I don't mind)

Maybe you could direct me to something?

Any good help is welcome I'd say, regardless the platform.

If you also plan to dive into our code, you probably already know the github location for it: https://github.com/xbmc/xbmc .
It's now also the place where we keep the 'tickets' for reported bugs on Kodi 18 and beyond. You'll need a Github account, but that shouldn't be a problem.

So You're saying I should just find an unclaimed issue and work on it?

Correct, just anything you want to work on. There's also a backlog on https://trac.kodi.tv/ (which can be viewed if you use the forum account to log in). Be sure to only look at issues created for v18 or confirmed to be an issue.
Another topic we could use help on is cleaning up the code in general or doing improvements.
Inside the code you will also find "todo" items that might be nice to get picked up to get yourself familiar with the code https://codedocs.xyz/xbmc/xbmc/todo.html

If not certain how to handle something be sure to ask before spending too much time on it and i'm sure one of the devs will point you in the right direction. Once that is done you can create a pull request on github for code review
