Solved Data usage, not streaming anything
#1
Hi,

Kodi is constantly chatting on the Internet.

Every time I select a video:
23:17:00.123041 IP kodi.home.lan.58876 > 104.20.135.15.http: Flags [P.], seq 1:222, ack 1, win 229, length 221: HTTP: GET /?plot=short&r=json&t=The+Quatermass+Experiment&y=&type=series&tomatoes=True HTTP/1.1

Probably unrelated, but at one stage it was constantly asking for .jpg files after it had finished a scan for new content an hour earlier.  A restart stopped that.
Today I have used over 1GB of data for Kodi alone.  I do not stream, only local video files on HDD.  I am on a satellite connection with only 20GB per month.

This is a relatively new setup.  Minimal addons, using Confluence, and every video source is set to local information only to see if that would stop it.

Raspberry Pi 3B+ running libreElec 8.2.5

Thanks for any help.

Ian.

Try with zero add-ons, including without any scrapers, as it looks like one of your minimal add-ons is the cause of the traffic.

Please post a link to your full debug log (wiki) as snippets are rarely useful

It's a metadata scraper, doing what metadata scrapers do. Disable all of the metadata scrapers you have installed (possibly indirectly via another add-on or even skin) as I'm pretty sure that stock LibreELEC/Kodi will not query those third-party servers by default. Once you've confirmed the stock non-chatty behaviour without third-party scrapers you can re-enable add-ons/scrapers to identify the chatty scraper and remove it. To be honest if you are using a metered internet connection then you probably only want to be using the local NFO scraper.

I have found it.

It is Context menus - Skin Helper Service, author: marcelveldt, v 1.1.3

I don't remember installing this addon, maybe it came with something else.

Thank you for your help.
