[REQUEST] Add-on with HD/UHD Patterns and Test videos

Hi friend and developers my request is a add-on with calibration pattern and videos of demostration. I do not understand how it has not occurred to someone before. It would be nice too that I could link with videos demo 4K, UHD, HD, HDR, HDR10, Dolby Vision, DTS, Dolby, Dolby ATMOS. A all in one for test and calibration our devices setup. I think that this together with the new video core of Kodi Leía would be the final push for kodi in video players.

That would be very cool.

Yep agreed on this one, since the patterns were also removed mainline Kodi recently.

Making the Add-on would actually be really easy if someone is willing to host the Video files I can make it.

Thank you very much for your interest in the add-on. I think of a add-on as the Blu-ray / DVD Demo Disc with crowd and very varied video/audio tracks. You could even include demo audio tracks with Hi-Res quality 24bits/96kHz. It would be fantastic but it is true that the main problem would be where to upload all that content. Would it be illegal to link to sites that already host this type of video?

Sorry for my english.

I think that the most important part to remember in the making of such a new 'HDTV Calibration' addon for Kodi will be that the test patterns files for Kodi must be in video format (and not 'still' picture/photo files) so that they get played + rendered by Kodi's native video player and as such goes through the same exact video playing process as your movie files will go through in Kodi. So if you find calibration test patterns files that are in 'still' picture/photo files then you will need to convert them to video files so that they can be played with Kodi's native video player, because if they remain as 'still' picture/photo files then they might not get played + rendered in Kodi the exact same way as your movie files will.

Anyone interested in making such an 'HDTV Calibration' addon should check out "AVS HD 709" free set of calibration test patterns and a manual/guide on how to use them

As you probably know, all of these have gotten their original inspiration from the old THX Optimizer test patterns used for THX Calibrations

Please understand that simple access to any 4k uhd video files does not help "HDTV calibration" which needs "test patterns" and instructions on how to use them for calibration.

For "HDTV calibration" you need videos that play different static test patterns for a while to give you time to compare different colors, contrasts, brightness/backlight, etc..

Google "HDTV calibration" and you will find much more information on the processes and tools (such as test patterns) for celebrating different types of displays and televisions.
