Sorry if this has been asked before, but I can't find anything on it as I'm not sure what to search for.

I have a Python plugin and would like to add an item to the slide out panel that appears on the left (default skin) - the one that contains "Viewtype" , "Sort By" etc. 

I want the user to be able to chose from a preset number of items (so basically a control that works exactly like the "view type" or "sort by" menus in that window).

I see that my add-on settings are listed under the heading "Actions" - can I add other items there?

nope, it's not possible to modify the side menu of a skin.
the only part that can be altered by addons would be the context menu.

Thanks, I though that might be the case. Just adjusted the flow of my addon to use folders and it makes way more sense now so I don't need that feature.
