Criterion Collection Full (smartplaylist)

Warning this is a big smart-playlist and might take a few moments to locate the potential 951 movies within your collection.

Following https://www.imdb.com/list/ls068333951/?s...tls_vw_smp I take no responsibility for the accuracy, but it seems to work. I simplified the listing by excluded the dates, colons, odd foreign characters, and if your movie name doesn't match the title, you'll have to edit your movie title or the listing in the smartplaylist for it to show up. I didn't use the exclusion rule to exclude wrong dates or sets etc, feel free to edit or improve, and if you do re-post with links, I don't think that pastebin.com will hold stuff beyond 30 days.

https://pastebin.com/8JpNbvwm

Save this as a UTF-8 called "Criterion Collection Full.xsp" with your favourite editor and place it in the Userdata (wiki) folder playlists/video, enter Kodi and select the listing in playlists. Obviously if you don't have the movie in your personal library, it isn't going to show up. Don't feel bad if this 951 count movie collection doersn't show much in a personal collection, there are a lot of old foreign films in this list and is merely a reflection of critics acknowledgement of certain values and the commercialization of this.

Thanks for the list. 951 movies is a lot and only have 904 more to get to fill out this collection.  So just a measly 47 films for me. Smile

Don't feel bad, my first pass turned up sub 100, looking at the list more than half are foreign language, quite a few have different titles for different countries, then then there is those oddball characters that the playlist doesn't handle well, but it's a useful list should my brain need stimulation. A slight tip if you have too much time on your hands would be to replace the <studio>Criterion</studio> in the .nfo file and re-scrape, then make a playlist that incorporates a 'studio' rule, the titles become unimportant.

I promise you will have most of the titles in my next playlist. https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/lists/...ite-818479

Mmm, I go with the custom tags. EMM to the rescue. And keep the Studio tag intact.

Also of note: the smartlist above matches non-Criterion titles, since it knows nothing of the release year.

Thanks @PatK! I have all of the titles in your next playlist Smile

Now to look at the Criterion list and figure out where I stand in that one.

@Daydream Don't lose those custom tags, and yes I've altered the list titles to incude/exclude by date, not to mention 'sets'.

@bsoriano  You can export the list from the post URL a-b the the titles, and include the foreign titles if needed.

How exactly do you export these urls?

@Harro click the URL link in post #1 with your favourite browser, which should take you to The Criterion Collection, full list and on that web page next to that title is 3 vertical dots, hit that and a menu should drop down offering export as one of the options (this might be a member only feature, I'm a member).

The export works for any user.  Handy.  Never knew that feature was there.

Thank you again @PatK for starting this thread.  I own 273 of the list! More than I originally expected.  In the next week or so, I will post here a modified version of your playlist, since I am removing (for my use) modern documentaries or music videos, and there are some collections inside the list that I am expanding so I can track the individual movies (like the 4 movies by Jean Vigo), and there are others which have been almost impossible for me to track all of the ones included (like the Science is Fiction collection, or all of the Zaitochi movies), so I am removing completely or just leaving a few.

I am actually working of a full list from the Criterion website, as expressed on Wikipedia.

Bart

@bsoriano I look forward to your modified list and corrections, (I do have a set of the Zatochi films) think I might have to go rummaging around Chinatown for Lone Wolf and Cub series.

@PatK

Thanks for starting another great movie thread.  I have all of the Hollywood Reporter top 100 list and will be interested to see how many I have from the Criterion collection.  Look forward to your updated playlist bsoriano

As I mentioned before, here is a link to my smart playlist of the Criterion Collection.  There are 967 movies in this playlist.  I have expanded all of the boxsets that I included into their individual movies.  The playlist is already sorted by year, even though it also has that rule at the end.  As @PatK mentioned initially, the titles of the movie in your own collection might differ from those on the playlist, so please verify.  In a lot of cases the title is the original title (a lot of the french movies), but in most cases the title is the English title for the movie.

Finally, this list does not represent the full Criterion Collection list, as I removed some documentaries and music videos and some boxsets which I could not track down (@PatK I did include all of the Zatoichi and Lone Wolf and Cub ones!)

I hope some of you find this useful! Smile

Bart

EDIT 2019-03-06:

Here is an updated link: https://1drv.ms/u/s!AlII29kkG6TFiMFDzIKQkTpuVHwYCg .  The list now has 957 titles on it, since I took out some titles that were not movies, but tv shows.  All the titles are now what IMDb/TMDB have.  Enjoy!
