Upgraded A/V Receiver, no Bitstream on passthrough
#1
I recently upgraded from a Denon 3808 to an Integra DRX 5.2.  My system is configured to pass through HD audio and Pulse is disabled.

When I play DTS Masteraudio or Dolby TrueHD, Kodi decodes the audio and streams PCM to my receiver.  I realize that both solutions should sound identical but I would like to verify that I can bitstream.

Kodi: 17.6
Ubuntu: 16.04.5 LTS

See if you might have "Sync playback to display" enabled and if yes, disable that. If you need that setting because the video stutters otherwise, make sure you enabled refreshrate switching (that will depend on what your TV is capable of). If all that doesn't help and you will only get a smooth playback if "Sync playback to display" is enabled, then you don't have another chance than to stream PCM to your amp.

Thanks.  That solved Risen.  It bitstreams now!  I forgot to enable refresh switching initially but I re-read your post and changing that option solved the choppy playback.

Unfortunately, Finding Dory now has no audio.  I'll have to capture that log in the morning.

Narrowed down the Finding Dory issue.  There are two Masteraudio streams in this content.

7.1 DTS MA       : This plays fine
5.1 DTS MA HRA: This bitstreams to the A/V receiver but there's no audio

I played the BluRay disc and both DTS MA streams (5.1 and 7.1) bitstream fine.

Here's the Kodi log: https://pastebin.com/Xzwsw7ke
